February 2013 Flashback

Prairie Dogs in the Snow

In order to get to one of my classes in time I have to drive my car to the other side of campus, and I mean like its on the way other side of campus. Then I have to walk across a field to get the building but the field is not the kind of field I think of, its not really a field though, its more like dirt (its the extra parking lot they use for basketball and football game). Anyway, I was walking across the dirt field back to my car after class when I spotted an animal scurrying behind the snowdrifts. I thought it was a rabbit but it wasn't hopping, it was walking. Then it sat up on its hind legs and stuck its head up, it was a prairie dog!! I was so excited to be be so close to a wild prairie dog it was stupid how excited I was!
Then I realized that prairie dogs out here in Wyoming are similar to that of rats in Michigan, vermin.
Whatever! I saw a wild prairie dog that wasn't at the Detroit Zoo.
Yes, we have a pretty neat prairie dog exhibit at the Detroit Zoo.

Furious Flurries

It snowed, all freakin' day.
I am so tired of the snow and the cold that follows and cleaning off my dirty car everyday.
Is it too much to ask for some 40 degree days and maybe rain so I don't have to pay money to wash my car? A cool thing though happened while taking pictures, The snow was blowing off the roof of my apartment complex and was swirling around my camera a few times and I managed to catch a few cool pictures of the snow in front of the lens (like the above picture).

Twinkling Little Lights

I have planned on wearing this outfit for weeks and now I finally am flaunting it.
Also for weeks I have been meaning to tell you about the stars here in Laramie.
So I have been doing this thing that on Friday early in the morning I would go to the gym and as I walk there I look up and see the stars still. It is absolutely beautiful! I think every Friday that I need to take a picture and share with you all the glorious sky that I get here. Then the day happens and I forget about those twinkly little lights until night again and I am in aw once again. I think everyone should come out west to enjoy the clear skies at night and see the stars.

Every 90's Kid Dream

Last week I was chatting with a friend before class and we were reminiscing of old (better) kid TV shows, mostly the ones on Nickelodeon. Rugrats, Hey Arnold, AHH! Real Monsters and Are You Afraid of the Dark are a few we talked about. Then we were remembering the slime. That green ooie gooie stuff that the contestants got dumped on their heads if they lost or hard to do obstacles through on that one show, either Double Dare or Guts or both I don't remember. I do remember being grossed out by the slime but deep down inside I really wanted to get slimed.
Didn't all you 90's kids want that?
And yes, when someone says 10 years ago I think of the 90's.

The Groundhog Lied

A few days ago I saw this picture (the one second to last in this post) making it's way around Facebook. I had to laugh because it felt so true! Laramie is finally starting to get the snow that everyone is talking about and let me say sorry to my home state, Michigan, but it looks like you will be getting this storm next week and the weatherman (who can't be trusted) said it is supposed to gain momentum and size over the lakes. Bummer.
I am really upset at the little rodent that said early spring. Spring? Last I heard snow means winter not spring. Eric did have to calm me down today about the snow. He tried to tell me that early spring for Michigan is at least 6 weeks away meaning that would be early spring for us. I also had to tell myself that spring in Laramie really doesn't exist, its more like warm winter than anything. Last year though we had a great spring time and I am hopeful that we have similar weather this year!
I want sandals, a tan and a reason to have a cold drink!
Spring come back!

Curse you groundhog!

Item Debut: Plaid Pants

Back in August during the Norstrom Anniversary Sale my momma found these pants that I at first did not like. They were high waisted and plaid and at the time patterned pants were not a thing I mean people were still getting ed to the colored jeans thing.Well she talked me into keeping them and I have been saving this outfit for a day to wear to the clinic on campus because I think this looks professional and it is really comfy. You can't go wrong with a chambray shirt and a knit blazer either. Easy outfit? I think yes.

Lady Grey Tea

Over the past 8 months I, a senior in college, have been slowly weaning myself off coffee and have turned to another source of caffeine, tea. My favorite tea is Lady Grey Tea. Earl Grey is fine too but Lady Grey with a splash of milk is my weakness. I have a ton of different teas now, something like 20 different kinds I think. I drink about a pot of tea a day and sometimes will actually buy a 20oz of vanilla bean tea at a place on campus on top of the pot of tea waiting for me at home.
I know my love of tea started with my mom who also drinks close to a pot of tea everyday too. When I am home the stove top has 2 pots of different tea. She loves Lipton black tea, which is good too but I love tea with a little favor so English Breakfast, Chai, blackberry, raspberry any tea is fine with me! I wish the US had tea time. A cup of hot tea, cucumber sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves yes please, can I go back to London for day for scones please?

Fellow Blogger Inspirations: Wearing It On My Sleeves

Sarah over at Wearing It On My Sleeves has a great sense of color and she loves to wear bold brights all year long! My kinda girl if you ask me! She inspired me to bring out these Target floral print capri's out a little earlier than I would ever have tried and it actually works! Can't tell ya how many people were like "oh I love your pants" or my favorite of today "ya, I want spring too" while never taking her eyes off the pretty bright flowers. Everyone is just waiting in anticipation for Spring to finally take charge over winter! I am ready to pull out the flip flops and shorts!

Style Sister: Rachel Bilson

I have been waiting to use this outfit inspiration so I could put my hair up in a sock bun and try to look like skinny minnie Rachel Bilson. I am very far from her little frame but I think she is a very classy and stylish lady. Most of her style is classic and timeless with touches of statement pieces. She supports Piperlime and since I like to shop there for accessories and shoes I knew this look would be easy to pull off, especially considering the look includes neutrals and blacks with the little pop of color and statement necklace. Very slimming and classic for me.
