January 2013 Flashback

Item Debut: J. Crew Peter Pan Collar Sweater

Over last semester I started to really love the simplicity of J.Crew.
I really liked how one expensive piece of clothing looked so good with jeans or a solid colored pant. I fell in love with the Peter Pan neckline that became really popular last season and this sweater fit the bill in fulfilling my lust for something Peter Pan. I saved up, pay check after pay check, for this little baby (so imagine the expense). Now that I have it, I am trying to style it the way I would, not just the way J. Crew would in just jeans and pony tail on an ultra skinny model. I love color and "staring power" in my outfits. And my staring power I mean people look at it going,"I could never pull that off" or just that I give people something pretty to look at. I try to always make my item debut's all about the debut item and not distract the reader from the item so this outfit felt a little boring to me.
Next time you see this top I guarantee it will be with colored bottoms or something a little pa-zaz worthy.
In the meantime, just enjoy this cute little top, I know I am.

Tiny Little Bows

You remember how I said I am so ready for spring?
Ya, I'm way more than ready now.
Laramie got an inch or so of snow the other day and now the cold has set in. My positive outlook on the semester has now backfired: all the outfits I planned on wearing with cute flats are now pushed back and planned to wear in like March sometime, so in their place the boots and sweatshirts are taking over...again.
God! Can't my sweatshirts learn to share the year? They think they are so special since I wear them for like, 3/4ths a year.
Anyway, this sweatshirt has been with me throughout all of college. It holds a special place in my closet. The little bow pattern makes me happy and adds a little "girly" to a plain white sweatshirt.
Hope everyone is staying warm!

In Between Seasons

We had abnormally nice weather here in Laramie for a few days, like I could walk to the gym in my workout capri's and a sweater shirt nice. So those days of nice weather put me in spring mode way earlier than normal. Usually I get into spring mode a week or two before spring break but I am in the mode now. This is way too early to wanting bright colors, warm weather to wear light jackets and sandals. It also doesn't help that all the stores are putting out their "resort wear" and spring break stuff. I have a list a mile long of neon things, light sweaters and summer worthy shoes! This in between seasons shopping is always my favorite because I love to see what styles are going to popular for spring and summer and then (usually) I wait until the cheaper stores carry the style.
Anyway, I decided that I needed some color yesterday so this outfit fit the bill and relaxed my urge to go spring/summer clothes shopping.
Oh! And did I mentioned it snowed yesterday too?
That put a damper on spring mode.

I have been really tired the past couple of days so getting some really deep refreshing sleep would be a welcomed change.

7 Day Dare: The Power of the Leopard Resides in His Claws

I feel like I am always at a loss on what to write about in these posts.
I think of great topics and I'm all like "oh that's a good topic to write about" and then later I forget about it. I really should start writing my topics down. I have the worst memory. I am trying to have a better memory but practicing things but practicing memory skills is really hard on your own.

7 Day Dare: Every Hill Has Its Leopard

Yesterday while I was at work a friend told me that a landmark of Laramie, The Library, was closing down Saturday. I have only been there a few times before so my friend and I decided to go there for dinner last night. We got a beer, mac and cheese bites and I got a delicious burger. This restaurant also sells t-shirts that say on the back "don't lie to your mom, tell her your at The Library." I had to get another one because not only is The Library closing down but I am graduating and will not be back unless I get into grad school here or my future child plan on attending this university.

Style Sister: Miranda Kerr

 I love celebrity fashion!
I love (almost) everything my favorite celebs wear. Miranda Kerr is one that I seem to love everything she wears and I mean when you have a body like hers anything looks good on you. Me on the other hand, I have to try on everything! Online shopping is a real guessing game (but totally worth it). If there is a seam in the wrong place or a cut is tighter in a place that I need a little extra wiggle room it can be the retirement of an outfit and death to an article of clothing.
When it comes to celeb fashion,Style Sister in particular, I look online and just see if someone famous is wearing an outfit of items that I already have and I work with what I got. I always get excited if I see a color combination or a statement piece that I haven't thought of wearing in a certain way.
Then I'm all like "thanks so and so for giving me that great idea."
Or maybe I should be thanking their stylist.
