Birthday Need Want Lust

Need: J. Crew Back Up Battery / Lust: J. Crew Factory Striped Blazer
It's my birthday today!
Not a fun number to turn, 23 but still another year older and another year closer to being a real grown-up. It's weird to think that soon I will be paying ALL of my own bills and living on my own, not with a roommate but all by myself. For my birthday Need Want Lust:
This J.Crew back up battery is so cute and really necessary.
I go through the battery on my phone like crazy texting, responding to emails, playing games, and checking up on my blog. Half the time my battery decides to die at the worst times; in a bar, on a plane or in my car (in those situations its always when I forget to bring my car phone charger). So like I said I need this.
I am still my parent's baby and I want lots and lots of presents!
I have been on the look out for a striped blazer.
I think they look so cool and classy but are a little edgy on top of it.
This one at J.Crew Factory looks like a winner but the price tag is still just a little too high than what I'm looking for. Still, I know it would fit me and I would get my money's worth out of it.

December Delights

I know it has been while but here's a story:
On Christmas Eve I go to Mass with Eric and his family, before Mass started I whispered to Eric "It doesn't feel like Christmas without snow" he agreed. During Mass I looked at one of the beautiful stained glass windows and saw little white blurrs falling on the other side of the window. I got all excited and again whispered to Eric "I think it's snowing!!" Sure enough, when we left Mass there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground and it just kept coming down! It was a true Christmas miracle.
For Christmas gifts this year, I got little items that I needed like new headphones, screen protector for phone, smart touch gloves (gloves that have pads on the tips of the fingers for touch screens), and wine glass mustaches (a marker for who's glass is who's). I also got a really nice bracelet and a Walking Dead graphic novel from Eric. The big surprise was at my aunt's house, my parents got me a new bike! Since we have snow I couldn't ride it but come summer I am so stoked to ride around town in my cute girly bike. I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas, that Santa found your home and delivered everything that was on your wish list.

Christmas Break Shenanigans: Christmas Morning

Top: Aerie / Pants: Gap (similar 1. 2) / Slippers: Aerie / Glasses: Ray Ban / Lip Color: Burt's Bees
I love Christmas morning!
I love the breakfast, the tree, the presents under neath it and I love snow!
I hope we have snow this year.
Anyway, if your Christmas morning is anything like mine then your mom is taking pictures of you opening every single gift and capturing the cute moments your dog sits there patiently to see if it is for her. Looking somewhat good is hard before 10am for me so a simple way to avoid having pictures where you look gross is to have cut PJ's on the night before. When you wake up you already have cute stuff on. Another trick is to wear your glasses, no eye makeup required. And my final tip is to wear a little lip color. A pop of a colorful pout makes you look tired to beautiful and it shows up on camera nicely too.

Well, We Survived the Apocalyspe

Its the 22nd and I'm still here.
Hope you are too!

Christmas Break Shenanigans: Last Minute Shopping

Top: J.Crew / Pants: Gap / Shoes: Ugg / Watch: Kate Spade / Bag: American Eagle / Scarf: Gap
Every year I think I have all my shopping done and then a few days before Christmas I think of something to add and then I am in a frenzy to find it! On those days, I don't have time to put together a great outfit so something that is cute and I can throw on and rush out the door is necessary for me. Comfortable shoes are also a must because you never know how far you'll have to park from the entrance and how long the check out lines are going to be, nothing is worse then being in a hurry, in a long line and in uncomfortable shoes. When I am also in a shopping frenzy, I keep a close eye on the time which is important just in case the store you really need to go to isn't open until midnight or later.

Baking Memories

It's a Christmas tradition that every year I go over and help out my aunt bake Christmas cookies.
This year is no different.
I headed over and we baked 3 batches of cookies. Although only 2 batches were edible.
We had a cookie disaster!
I was making dough for a batch and my aunt helped me get all the ingredients, I accidentally put in more butter than the recipe called for resulting in really gooey, greasy cookies. They still tasted good but when we realized our mess up we remade the batch and the good cookies were delicious.
There are a lot more cookies that need to be made but we had a  good start.

Christmas Break Shenanigans: Skiing or Snowboarding

Jacket: The North Face Hooded Puffer Jacket / Hoodie: Aerie / Shirt: Moosejaw / Pants: The North Face / Leggings: Simply Vera for Kohl's / Shoes: Uggs / Headband: J.Crew Factory / Scarf: American Eagle / Gloves: The North Face /
 Sunnies: Ray Ban Aviators

Even though I live in the mountains, the only time I go skiing is back home in Michigan with all my friends. Last year we didn't get snow so be didn't go. I am really looking forward to going this year. Since I am not a professional and I only go occasionally I don't have real gear so I make due with what I have at home. I usually wear a long sleeved shirt under a sweatshirt then my heavy waterproof coat. The I wear leggings under my snow pants. I also wear a headband to keep my ears warm and as a way to pull my hair back. I also don't see the point in buying nice goggles for a once a year thing so I wear my sunglasses and pray they don't fall off my face if I fall. The Ugg boots are there as what I wear into the resort. I always rent my gear and wear a thick pair of socks.
If you aren't an avid skier and need some inspiration for what to wear to the resort, I hope this helps!

Holiday Hoopla

Everyone is back in town  for the holidays!
It is so great to have everyone back and catching up!
I also love the dressing up for these events! Sparkle in small places is a great way to add holiday cheer and to not go over board.
I am anxiously awaiting the snow to hit and have a white Christmas! I saw the weather forecast and I want to build my own Frosty!

Chistmas Break Shenanigans: Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Top: Not so Ugly Snowman / Pants:Gap Legging Cords / Shoes: Uggs / Nail Polish: OPI I'm Not Really A Waitress

You don't always have to wear a truly ugly sweater to these parties. If anything you can have a cute sweater/top and make it your own. This above look is cute and simple. The below look is really Christmas themed because of (the duh!) red and green color combination. You really need to own this look as well because of the saying on the shirt. The final look at the bottom is my favorite. The simple black tee and dancing reindeer make the shirt festive but classic and when paired with a hilarious hat, you don't have to have the most humorous sweater.

Travel Ready

Yesterday  I finally got to head home!
It was cold and a little snowy but it was so nice to be travelling with someone. I usually travel by myself which makes things a little more challenging and I have to find things to keep me occupied but having a travel buddy is really nice.
The Christmas break holiday is always a hard one for me to pack. I have way too much stuff that I want to bring home so I end up wearing the heavy stuff so I can fit other things in my bag. This year though it was easy to fit everything. I made sure that I planned enough outfits with the few amount of clothes I am bringing home and I tried to make sure I had some space for extra things I get over the break. Lets just hope I can fit every thing back in the bags to come back.

Christmas Break Shenanigans: Winter Date

Jacket: Target Peacoat / Top: American Eagle Knit Cowl Sweater / Pants: Gap Legging Cord / Shoes: Minnetonka High Top / Bracelet: Keeley Smith Bangle / Necklace: Urban Outfitters Arrow Necklace / Bag: Kimchi Blue Tote Bag
I mean this look to be a winter date for any occasion really, a date with friends at the coffee shop, a family function at a nice restaurant or at a another family member's house and even the real dates of winter with a significant other. Colored pants are a staple this year and dress up any top where the color combination works well together. A nice looking coat is also a good purchase because this time of year you end up getting your money's worth.
