I took these photos a long time ago, way back when my hair was long enough to put in a pony tail without clips or bobby pins. I love this shirt and I have wore it on a few other occasions that I haven't documented on the blog. It seems to be out of stock now at the Gap.
I am really not drawn to camo print but this season it was a trend. I'm always willing to give a trend a try but this one just wasn't one I wasn't willing to jump on the band wagon with. I never say never though because only a few days after I found out this trending was well, trending, I spotted this little beauty. The stripes and slight camo print was just enough for me to try the trend and not feel like I'm going hunting in the process.
Yesterday I did my first two a day work out routine since I was on my high school swim team.
I felt great sweating and knowing I was working off some Thanksgiving dinner that decided to stick around, specifically on my thighs. I really liked the quiet at the gym the two times I went so I'm going to see if I can keep doing it at those times but we will see. With the end of the semester coming quickly, final exams, final papers and grad school applications are due soon and are my first priority but with the stresses of life bringing me down, getting a little frustration out on the treadmill is a lot more productive that letting loose on a package of Oreo's.
It has finally getting chilly here in Laramie and the fact that I want to hibernate is not helping my school productivity. I have been really leaning toward comfy and warm clothes recently and this dress has been with me since freshmen year of college. I'm really excited that the burgundy color I chose years ago is "in" this year.
Every blog has a little something different from the next.
I think my blog is different in that all of my items are reasonably affordable and almost all of my outfit are re-creatable.
Kayley over at Sidewalk Ready really knows how to put a great outfit together, head to toe. She "something different" over at her blog is her tips and tricks on hair styling.
Now, I love my curly locks and I like them short so it really hinders my hairstyle options but with my hair I don't really want to do anything to it that might ruin my golden curls. I do envy how Kayley styles her tresses and if you love a different hair style everyday, check her out. Maybe she will give you more ideas.
I'm back home in Michigan now and I had a really warm welcome last night.
To my knowledge, Eric wanted to go out to the bars for a drink and to talk about the advertising conference he attended earlier that day. So I went over to his house around 10:45 at night, walk in the door and I heard surprise from all of my friends. I was overwhelmed with happiness.
First of all, I had no idea at what Eric was planning and second I was really late and everyone stayed until I got there and continued to catch up with me which of super nice. Eric even got my favorite drink and was my personal bartender for the night.
I am so lucky to have such great friends and an amazing boyfriend who truly knows me best!
It's that time of the season where family comes into Town and you end up cooking for more people than you re used to for every meal.
An easy breakfast for a big family are pancakes.
As you know it's the season for pumpkin so why not make Pumpkin Pancakes.
I found this recipe on Pinterest and it's so good!
The pancakes are moist and full of flavor.
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup milk
6 tablespoon pumpkin puree
2 tablespoon butter, melted
note: I used the amount of cinnamon and nutmeg listed above but then I used pumpkin pie spice to make up for missing other amount of spices. I think the pumpkin pie spice made the pancakes really taste like pumpkin pie pancakes.
The I used 1/4 cup blobs in the pan and cooked them until done then served them with strawberries and Earl Gray Tea.
Those comfortable skin tight pants that are almost like leggings.
I hopped on that bandwagon as soon as I could find my size. After I did it was no turning back to regular jeans. I bought them in every wash of jean.
Now the colored pant is the new rage and it's so fun!
Making outfits are way more fun now that color is acceptable on out stems.
The next step that is now making it big are patterned bottoms. Floral seems to be the popular pattern right now and the "military" trend is bringing camouflage to the front lines. I have yet to get my hands on a polka dot pair that I love.
We first headed to the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace in Historic Downtown Savannah to check out the 100 years anniversary items they had in the gift shop. After that my Dad and I decided to go on an adventure and check out this little island called Tybee. It was a beautiful drive and we loved seeing all of these homes, large and small, on stilts 5-10 feet above the ground.
Once we entered the island they had this great welcome sign and we had to stop for a touristy picture. When we walked to the sign, we though it was white rocks around the sign but it was really oyster shells! How cool!!!
Next to the welcome sign was this huge anchor and a plague explaining that it was found a few decades ago in the Savannah River and it was traced back to belonging to a Union War Vessel that went down during the Civil War.
Then we drove further into town.
We stopped at the tourist information center where they had this Great White Shark and again I had to be a tourist and take a picture.
A really cool fact about Tybee Island is they have Loggerhead Sea Turtles in the area and they nest on the beaches. If you have heard anything about Sea Turtles recently, they are endangered. The island tries to help the turtles. From May 1st to October 31st, homes and windows that can be seen from the ocean need to turn off all lights and draw drapes so when the baby turtles hatch and crawl out of the sand they can see the light of moon reflecting off the water and crawl in that direction to start their life in the Atlantic Ocean.
The tide was extremely low in the area so signs explaining that drowning could happen even in areas that looked shallow was possible all over the area. Once we did walk the long way to the water I finally got my feet in the ocean for the first time since...I can't remember the last time my feet were in an ocean but I welcomed the cold salt water on my toes.
